My start as an Altyrian intern
So, where to begin…well, my name is Eunhee Lee and I’m one of two interns at Altyris Advertising in High Point, NC. A little background info: I was born in Seoul, South Korea but raised in Winston-Salem, NC. My family moved to the U.S. when I was 6. I just graduated from Wake Forest University, which is also in Winston-Salem (I guess you could call me a hometown girl). People ask me all the time why I would go to a school so close to home. What can I say? I liked the school and it’s good to know I can always call my Mom for a home-cooked meal. Enough about that, let’s talk about the internship…
I officially received my diploma on May 19 and started my first day as an Altyrian intern on May 21. My degree is in communication and I knew I wanted to eventually work at an agency and Altyris is definitely a great place to start. I like how it’s a smaller agency because the people are more tight-knit and I’m able to take on more projects and responsibilities. It’s also a full-service agency with big clients, which exposes me to all areas of agency work.
My first day, I didn’t know what to expect. The agency recently moved into a new building, so it was cool to check out the new office. (Side note: the view of the lake is amazing.) After a short meeting with John, my intern supervisor and, as I learned earlier, a fellow Tae Kwon Do-ist, I got to work writing my very first press release.
I’m posting this entry a week and a half into the internship. My reactions so far… well, I didn’t realize that so much went on within the agency and that I would be able to learn half the things that I have thus far. I’ve already written press releases, watched a video podcast recording, edited an audio podcast, sat in on a meeting with TV reps, met a group of great people who work here, and have started a blog with my fellow intern Erin. I’m excited to see what’s in store for me and Erin as we progress in the internship. I’ve already learned so much and am anticipating the weeks ahead.
